The Portuguese ECFOLI Youth team is 13 Youth, aged around 16 years, all from a local school (Escola das Olaias) who worked with trainers at Lusofona University on the cultural heritage of Lisbon focusing on the cultural mosaic tile the Azulejo, especially in their local areas. The Youth brought an added cultural heritage to their work in the music called Fado. Fado is local soulful music genre that was adopted by the poorer society since the 1800’s, also known as the heart of the Portuguese soul. Performing in workshops on computers, gaming, coding, e-portfolios and more the Youth learnt valuable life-skills and personal development that will help them with future possibilities. Their conflict was one that is entrenched in their socio-economic status of being from communities of less opportunity and with their school under-achievement issues.
